About course

Theoretical online course “Application of EW / ELINT Systems” by Global Drone Academy is designed for military and civilian participants who want to master the principles and methods of electronic warfare and reconnaissance. The program comprises five modules and covers the necessary theoretical foundation as well as practical recommendations for employing EW/ELINT systems at the tactical level. The course includes a step-by-step guide on how to select an effective EW system and how to assemble an ELINT device from simple, readily available components. The training format is fully online with no fixed schedule. Upon completion of the course and successful passing of the tests, you will receive an official Global Drone Academy certificate and the opportunity to take part in hands-on field training on a range for UAV detection and countermeasures.

Course program

Theory of Radio Waves

The module “Theory of Radio Waves” covers the fundamentals of radio wave generation and propagation, their interaction with the environment, and the factors that affect signal quality. It explains the principles of antenna operation, their types, directional characteristics, and efficiency under different conditions. Participants will learn how to choose the right antenna for detection, jamming, or protection, and understand the basic principles of building a stable radio channel.

Legal and Regulatory Aspects

The module “Legal and Regulatory Aspects” explores the legal framework and regulatory requirements for the use of EW/ELINT systems: state regulations, radio frequency licensing, operator responsibility, safety standards, and compliance with international humanitarian law. Participants will receive practical guidance on obtaining permits, interacting with government authorities, and minimizing legal risks when operating such equipment. The module features a guest speaker — Member of the Parliament of Ukraine and the Parliamentary Committee on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence, Oleksandr Fediyenko.

Selection of EW Systems

The module “Selection of EW Systems” provides a detailed guide on how to choose a high-quality and effective electronic warfare (EW) complex tailored to a unit’s mission. It covers key technical characteristics, principles for comparing and testing equipment, and common mistakes made when selecting EW systems.

What are the components of EW

The module examines all constituent elements of a classic EW system. We'll look inside an 8-channel EW system and review every component in detail.

How to Build Your Own ELINT System

This module is a step-by-step guide to building your own electronic reconnaissance (ELINT) system based on a spectrum analyzer. We describe each stage of assembling the ELINT device, step by step.

Certificate

Upon completion of the course and successful passing of the final test, each participant receives an official Certificate from the training center. It confirms that the trainee has acquired the necessary theoretical knowledge for the level of Junior EW/ELINT Specialist. This profession guarantees a high salary and eligibility for deferral from mobilization. The official certificate of the theoretical course also grants the opportunity to complete field training at the Global Drone Academy range for 50% of the full in-person course cost.
